Captains log Day Two
Dallas to Oklahoma City
A good nights sleep at Holiday Inn Dallas now taking our life in our hands on the road to Oklahoma with various stops planned. Weather is about 15 degrees which is a darn sight better than when we left Blighty, not sure where we'll end up with Angie navigating. Have a good day y'all xx
First stop was Turner Falls. Water was to cold for a swim but the walk blew away a few cobwebs
National Monument in Oklahoma City dedicated to the 168 people lost in the bombing in April 1995 which was very moving. Each soul is represented by a slate chair which is lit up at night. The smaller chairs are for the children.
Had lunch in a small town off the beaten track at a traditional diner where the waitress seemed slightly over awed as I was the first Brit she had ever seen bless her. Naturally she wanted a photo and couldn't wait to go home to tell her husband. Sad but true.
The Yanks have an odd way with how they describe antique shops not sure it would catch on with the woke brigade at home.
Staying en route to Amarillo tonight ready to join Route 66 tomorrow which of course is the main objective.
